Tick Tock Baby Centre

At Tick Tock, we accommodate from tiny baby, and our infants remain in the Baby Centre until they are about 18 months old.

  • Taking care of your baby is a huge responsibility, and one in which we take pride.
  • Our staff are carefully chosen and are perfectly suited to interacting and stimulating your little one.
  • The Baby Centre is bright and spacious, and the class numbers are small to ensure that all the babies receive an abundance of love and attention.
  • The mobile babies are allowed the freedom to explore their environment and the playground as often as possible.
  • Learning is achieved through self-discovery, music, stories and free play and they learn social skills through interaction with children at the same development stage.
  • Routines are slowly introduced as the babies grow, and they thrive in a space dedicated to their well-being.

Tick Tock Toddler Zone

The babies graduate to our Toddler Zone at around 18 months. As these little ones start widening their view of the world, a new environment is necessary for their next stage of development.

Very young children learn through seeing, hearing, touching, feeling and moving. Social skills, along with the physical and social abilities are enhanced and guided by skilled and caring teachers and assistants.

The toddlers can make discoveries on which to base further understanding of the world around them. The value of communication becomes apparent, and art, music and movement are a regular part of every day.

Lessons are planned around a theme and made to expand the toddler’s general knowledge, vocabulary, fine motor skills and their gross motor skills. Many activities are used to instil good habits and best practices.

Pre-Primary School

(Grade 00 and Grade 0)

After the age of 3, these little ones become students and learn in a more deliberate and structured environment. There is additional effort applied to help the students to meaningfully understand Afrikaans, to support them in primary school.

Themes are expanded on, and more subjects are introduced to further their scope of learning. Fundamental Mathematics, Language and Life Skills are part of their lessons and art is the core medium used.

Lessons are slightly different and longer in our continued effort in preparing them for Grade R and beyond.

Self-discipline is encouraged and structure is present in all lessons. Their routines are set, and the children know what to expect throughout the day.

Parental participation is vital in making sure that all outcomes are achieved and practiced. The children’s independence is nurtured and facilitated within a loving and educational environment.

Grade R

Children join the Grade R class in the year they turn 6.  There is a strong focus on ensuring that these young students are well versed in the CAPS curriculum to make sure that they start primary school with an advantage that will help them ease into ‘big’ school and alleviate commonly experienced anxiety and fear.

Grade R students are presented with the full curriculum as governed by the Educational Department. Their curiosity is encouraged, and the syllabus is made fun to learn. Building on existing knowledge and skills, the children flourish as numeracy, literacy and creativity is extended.

Grade R students graduate from Tick Tock Educare prepared for Grade 1 on every level, and continue to build on their solid foundation as they progress through Grade school.
